The foothold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia is becoming stronger. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening video address.
Commenting on the operation in the Kursk region, he said that on 17 August, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported to him on the offensive of Ukrainian forces.
‘The operation is proceeding exactly as we expected. The bravery of Ukrainians is doing great things. We are now strengthening our positions. The bridgehead of our presence is getting stronger,’ Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State thanked each unit that replenishes the exchange fund as a result of the capture of Russian servicemen.
‘This is important. This brings the release of our military and civilians from Russian captivity closer. We remember everyone who needs to come home,’ the President stressed.
