The British government will transfer thousands of drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a co-leader of a large international coalition. It is worth noting that Latvia will also become its co-chair.

This statement was made by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Britain, Grant Shapps.
According to him, official London, together with Latvia, will lead a large coalition to provide Ukraine with unmanned aerial vehicles.
“I am proud to announce that the United Kingdom and Latvia will lead the international coalition in building vital drones for Ukraine. Together, we will provide Ukraine with the capabilities it needs for self-defense and victory in this war, ensuring that Putin faces defeat in his illegal and barbaric ambitions.”
The Minister also stated that his country will increase and organize the provision of Western FPV drones to Ukraine.
Grant Shapps emphasized that these UAVs have proven their high effectiveness on the front lines, as they provide operators with situational awareness for targeting enemy positions, armored vehicles, and ships.
It is important to understand that this project will be launched as part of a £200 million drone package announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in January of this year.
What do we know about the details of the deal?
According to Grant Shapps, within this package, official London will order thousands of FPV drones for the Ukrainian military, including from British manufacturers.
He also forecasted that this move would boost the industry and contribute to achieving the Prime Minister’s priority goal of economic growth.
“The United Kingdom continues to do everything possible to provide Ukraine with what it needs—this year, we have increased our assistance to £2.5 billion and allocated £200 million for drone production, making us the largest supplier of UAVs to Ukraine”.
