The Pentagon believes that Russia will be ‘surprised’ by the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They say unpredictability is necessary

According to the spokesperson of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dave Butler, the Pentagon believes that the Russians ‘will be surprised’ by the future offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, the United States enjoys catching the enemy off guard.

“And I think that Russians will be surprised when Ukrainians put into action what they have been working on for the past few months,” Butler said.

He noted that he agrees with the fact that the world has consistently underestimated Ukraine and downplayed its capabilities, but the Defense Forces have repeatedly proven otherwise.

The military official stated that in internal discussions with the US Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley, there was never a mention of Ukraine having to resort to negotiations if it fails to achieve something in the offensive.

Butler emphasized that President Joe Biden has promised long-term support for Ukraine regardless of the outcome of future offensives.
