The Odessa region is one of the key directions of Russia’s attacks, as negotiations for the grain corridor continue, stated the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andriy Yusov. Russia is trying to destroy the Ukrainian port infrastructure and remove Ukraine from the agreements, he revealed in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“Now one of the key directions of the enemy’s attacks is the Odessa region. Since negotiations for the grain corridor are ongoing at various levels, parallel to these talks, Russia is attempting to destroy the Ukrainian port infrastructure and remove Ukraine as a potential executor of the agreements,” Yusov reported.
He noted that during negotiations, Russia primarily seeks agreements on exporting its own grain, as well as the grain seized from Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied.
According to him, the occupiers understand that they cannot completely exclude Ukraine from the grain agreement, but the destruction of port infrastructure, according to the logic of the aggressors, ‘to some extent, solves this issue.’
They will not achieve the desired result under any circumstances, but that’s the plan,” Yusov added.
