The leadership of the Russian government has prohibited officials from leaving the country without permission from Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin for official trips.
Details: Russian Prime Minister Mishustin has effectively closed the borders for his subordinates.
High-ranking officials of the Russian government – ministers, heads of departments, their deputies, and chiefs of staff – can now only leave the country for official business and with the permission of the Prime Minister.
At the same time, there are no such strict restrictions for employees of the Administration of the President of Russia. One of them explained the difference in restrictions for Kremlin and government employees as the result of Mishustin’s “special zeal.”
As a reminder, Russian special services confiscate passports of high-ranking officials and heads of state-owned companies to prevent them from leaving the country.
