On the afternoon of June 27, Russian Tu-22M3 bombers, which took off from the Shaykovka airfield in the Kaluga region of Russia, launched missiles that entered Ukraine over the Sumy region, flew over Poltava, and resulted in an explosion heard in Kremenchuk. This information is reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The aircraft of this type can carry three supersonic anti-ship Kh-22 cruise missiles, which currently cannot be intercepted by Ukrainian air defense systems, except possibly by the Patriot surface-to-air missile system in its latest modification.

Exactly one year ago, Russian terrorists struck the ‘Amstor’ shopping center in the city with an X-22NA missile equipped with a high-explosive/anti-tank warhead. At that time, there were approximately 1000 visitors inside. President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video showing the direct impact of the missile on the shopping center. In that incident, 22 people were killed, and over 60 others were injured and affected.

Representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, stated on the national telethon at 12:21 that it is still too early to talk about the details, but confirmed the strike (“explosions were heard in Kremenchuk”). According to his statement, there were at least two Tu-22M3 aircraft that struck with at least two missiles around 11:50.
13:01. Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, Lunin, confirmed that the Russians have attacked the region: “Just like a year ago on this day – with Kh-22 missiles.”

According to him, there have been impacts in the Kremenchuk district, specifically in a dacha cooperative, and preliminary reports indicate no casualties. There have been no reported hits on critical infrastructure objects, the official added.
