In Lutsk, a missile struck the plant of the world’s largest bearing manufacturer

During the Russian nighttime attack on August 15, a missile hit the factory of the Swedish company SKF in Lutsk. Reuters reports this with reference to a statement by the company’s spokesperson, Karl Björnstram.

“Last night, an attack occurred on the city of Lutsk in Ukraine, and our factory suffered damages during this attack. With great sadness, we confirm that three of our colleagues were killed,” he said.

According to Björnstram, the company will assess the consequences of the attack and the damages inflicted on the factory, but he added that SKF’s primary focus is on its employees and their safety.

The company is the world’s largest manufacturer of industrial bearings and has around 1,100 employees in Ukraine, most of whom work in Lutsk, as reported by Reuters citing the company’s statement.

According to documents, the Lutsk plant accounted for approximately 0.5% of SKF’s total production volume in 2022.

The Lutsk bearing plant became a part of the SKF corporation in 1998.
