Russia exploits Belarus to divert Ukrainian forces and create additional points of tension. Ukrainian troops are monitoring the situation.
Will Russia involve Belarus in the war?
Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andriy Yusov, stated during a telethon:
“Putin uses the Belarusian factor to divert Ukrainian forces, reserves, to create some additional points of tension, but in involving the Belarusian army directly in aggressive, expansionist warfare against Ukraine, in ground operations, Putin has not gone that far. And currently, there is no information to support such claims.”
Yusov noted that the situation is being tracked, monitored, and studied.
Situation in Belarus
Recall that on January 15, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced that Belarusian military personnel would undergo training on the territory of Russia.
During the exercises, the focus is planned to be on the experience gained by Russian forces during the war against Ukraine.
Additionally, Belarus intends to incorporate the use of nuclear weapons, provided by Russia, into its new military doctrine.
Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovich, claimed that the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus is allegedly aimed at deterring aggression from Poland, a NATO member.
