Defense company Rheinmetall has received another order from the German government to supply approximately 100,000 mines for 120mm mortars.
Manufacturing 100,000 munitions for Ukraine
The contract involves the supply of around 100,000 artillery shells of 120mm caliber. This agreement is part of a military aid package worth 400 million euros for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Deliveries are expected to commence shortly and will continue over the next two years.
Consequently, the average volume of deliveries may amount to just over 4,000 shells per month.
The consortium announced that due to the recent acquisition of the Spanish ammunition manufacturer Expal, Rheinmetall has further fortified its already extensive expertise in the field of infantry fire support.
The product range of the group includes a complete spectrum of mortar ammunition of 120, 81, and 60 mm caliber. These are complemented by fire control systems and mortar systems, such as the 120mm mortar Ragnarök and the innovative 60mm mortar system RSG60, as indicated by Rheinmetal.
What is known about Ukraine’s cooperation with Rheinmetall?
Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, met with the Director of the defense conglomerate Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger. The topic of the discussions was weaponry for Ukraine.
Additionally, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that ‘Ukrainian Defense Industry’ and the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall have formed a joint venture.
In October, it became known that the company Rheinmetall received another order for artillery shells under a framework agreement with the Bundeswehr. Although the customer is the German government, all munitions are intended for Ukraine.
