The head of Ukrainian intelligence, Kirill Budanov, stated that the departure or death of dictator Vladimir Putin will only benefit Ukraine. He made this statement in an interview with Times.
The journalist asked whether the fall of Putin after the complete defeat of Russia could provoke even greater instability and the worst outcome for Ukraine. Budanov insisted that the end of the dictator would only be beneficial.
“Why should Russia do it again? Nobody there, nobody in the big cities of Russia, would want to continue the war with Ukraine. When they watch the war on TV, they say, ‘Yeah, war, go ahead, fight, do whatever,'” said the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
He noted that as soon as the Russian population receives the order for conscription, they start looking for reasons not to go to war.
“Going to war themselves is not an option for them,” Budanov summarized.
Budanov revealed that two missile strikes by Russians were targeted at the Main Intelligence Directorate building, with the latest one occurring in May 2023.
