At night on May 20th, during a Russian attack on Ukraine, air defense forces destroyed 21 Russian drones. This information was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“20 ‘Shahed’ drones and the reconnaissance UAV ‘Merlin-VR’ were destroyed,” the statement reads.
As reported, after midnight on May 20th, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine from the northern direction with 18 Shahed-136/131 strike drones, targeting the Kyiv region.
All of these drones were destroyed by the forces and assets of the Air Command “Center” of the Air Force.
Also, at the end of the day on May 19th, in the eastern direction within the responsibility zone of the “East” Air Command, two Shahed-type strike drones were destroyed, while in the southern direction within the responsibility zone of the “South” Air Command, the reconnaissance UAV “Merlin-VR” was destroyed.
It is reported that during the past and current day, the tactical aviation of the Air Force conducted up to 30 sorties for fire engagement and combat air cover.
