Armed Forces of Ukraine: All six X-47 “Kinjal” missiles were heading towards Kyiv. The priority for the Russians was state infrastructure

Yuriy Ignat, the spokesperson of the Air Force, stated that all six downed X-47 “Kinjal” missiles were flying towards Kyiv on the night of May 16. He announced this during a national telethon broadcast.

According to him, all “Kinjal” missiles were targeted towards the capital but were destroyed by the air defense system.

He stated that the Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea were shot down in the south and along the flight route in different directions.

“The operation has been extremely successful. Six ‘Kinzhals’ is an impressive number. Kyiv remains at the epicenter; the capital has always been a priority for the Russians, so it is defended with serious means. Here, infrastructure objects and other important state facilities are protected,” said Ignat.

Earlier, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, stated that Russia had attacked Ukraine with 18 missiles, six of which were Kh-47 “Kinjal” missiles. The air defense system successfully intercepted all of these targets.

The military administration in Kyiv reported that the attack was exceptionally dense, with the maximum number of missiles launched within the shortest period of time.
