Andrew Weil, an integrative medicine expert and employee of Arizona State University, shared a simple and effective method to fall asleep in 60 seconds. According to him, this involves using the “4-7-8” technique.
This method is also known as ‘relaxed breathing’, the expert clarified. According to the technique, one should inhale slowly through the nose for four seconds, then hold their breath for seven seconds and exhale smoothly for eight seconds.
The sequence should be repeated until you fall asleep.
As Veil noted, rhythmic and deep breathing is practiced during Indian yoga meditation. And it not only helps to get rid of insomnia, but also cope with stress.
‘This is the best method that allows you to fall asleep again if you wake up in the middle of the night,’ added the expert.
