‘For the first time in history’. Zelenskyy confirms that Indian PM Modi is coming to Ukraine

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ukraine on 23 August – the first visit of an Indian government leader to the country in the history of bilateral relations. This was announced by the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Modi will pay an official visit to Ukraine on National Flag Day, 23 August, and this will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine in the history of bilateral relations.

In particular, the President’s Office announces talks between Modi and Zelenskyy during the visit – the politicians will discuss issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

In addition, a number of documents are scheduled to be signed between the two countries – the Office does not specify which ones.

On 8 July, Modi met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the day of the occupiers’ massive attack on the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv.

At the same time, President Zelenskyy wrote: ‘It is a huge disappointment and a devastating blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the world’s largest democracy hugging the world’s bloodiest criminal in Moscow on a day like this.’

Already on 15 July, India summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to discuss Zelenskyy’s remarks.
