The German government will not supply long-range Taurus missiles to Kyiv at this time, stated the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Martin Eger. He mentioned this decision in an interview with the European Truth.
“Currently, there will be no deliveries of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. In my opinion, the federal government and the Chancellor of Germany have made this quite clear. We have also informed the Ukrainian government of this decision in detail. And for now, this is all I can publicly say about it,” said the ambassador.
He added that alongside the recent decision regarding Taurus missiles, information emerged about Germany’s preparation of a 1 billion euro assistance package for Ukraine. This package will include Patriot air defense systems and IRIS-T.
“It will also include genuinely important components that will help strengthen your air defense. By the way, Germany is currently – perhaps, if we don’t consider the USA – the leading country investing in your air defense,” the ambassador stated.
The official noted that Germany has announced the provision of another Patriot air defense system complex to Ukraine, which consists of a complete system with a command post, radar, multiple launcher units, and missiles.
“So, we continue to support you, and the weaponry we supply has real significance,” he concluded.
