Kyrylo Budanov confessed why he joined Ostroh Academy. It’s about scientific work – the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate is writing another dissertation.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, is working on his doctoral dissertation. That’s why he recently joined Ostroh Academy. Budanov stated that he is not studying political science, as the public might think.
“I’m writing my doctoral dissertation there. The topic is the Global Interaction between Intelligence Agencies worldwide, how they collaborate, and how they influence their domestic policies,” said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
When asked if he would write a book after the end of the war in Ukraine, Budanov responded ambiguously with a laugh, “I’ll write my doctoral dissertation first. According to the timeline they’ve provided me, I have two years for that”.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, has also admitted that he was not at all disappointed that he was not appointed as the Minister of Defense. “I love my current job,” he added.
Budanov is enrolling as a political science student in the graduate program at Ostroh Academy University in Rivne, Ukraine. The leader of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, is among the applicants for the university’s graduate program, as confirmed by the university based on the rating lists of applicants for the 2023-2024 academic year.
