The military leadership of Russia claimed to have destroyed the Ukrainian Patriot air defense system. The Ministry of Defense mocked this statement.
During the night of May 16, the Russians attacked Kyiv with six hypersonic Kh-47 ‘Kinjal’ missiles, all of which were intercepted by the air defense forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, stated that ‘Kinjal’ hit the Patriot. The Ministry of Defense responded to this statement by the Russians with humor, saying, ‘The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense is more powerful than the armies of most countries.’
Russia doesn’t even need an army to conquer the whole world; its state media and the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Konashenkov, are more than adequate,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense tweeted.
On the morning of May 16, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, stated that Russia had attacked Ukraine with 18 missiles, six of which were the Kh-47 “Kinzhal.” The air defense system successfully intercepted all targets.
