The Russian offensive did not work, now Putin is betting on war weariness – the head of the German Foreign Ministry

The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, stated that the dictator Vladimir Putin must realize that he will not achieve his goals through war-weariness. She made this statement during a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Japan, as quoted by Ukrinform.

According to her words, G7 stood up against Russian aggression towards Ukraine on various fronts last year – by supporting the Ukrainian people during the winter, imposing sanctions on Russia, and limiting oil prices.

She noted that the allies helped Ukraine withstand attacks on critical infrastructure and the winter offensive by Russia.

Berbock stated that G7 must demonstrate its determination to Putin that he will not achieve his goal through exhaustion and fatigue.

“We know exactly what we stand for: an international order in which the rule of law takes priority over the law of the stronger. We stand for economic relations based not on dependence, but on fairness and common rules of competition,” emphasized the diplomat.

On March 29, 2023, Germany promised Ukraine an additional 12 billion euros in military aid, and on March 31, agreed to help modernize the Ukrainian GTS for the transportation of hydrogen.

At the beginning of April, it became known that Rheinmetall is building its center near the border with Ukraine. On April 6th, Politico reported that the EU’s plan for providing ammunition to Ukraine is “stuck”: they cannot choose weapon manufacturers.
