The Kremlin’s decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus shows that dictator Vladimir Putin needed to “show some subjectivity” to China, which Russia has completely lost under his leadership. President Volodymyr Zelensky said this today at a press conference in Bucha.
“If you want my personal opinion, the signal that Russia will deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus suggests an unsuccessful meeting with China,” the head of state said.
He believes that Putin needed to “show some subjectivity” that Russia had completely lost under his leadership.
Secondly, according to Zelensky, the Kremlin needs to demonstrate some victories to the Russians. “But he couldn’t do that on the battlefield. And even the fact that they started such a bloody war is absolutely clear how it will end,” the president said.
He noted that Putin does not consider his people whom he sends to the battlefield in Ukraine, ‘but that is already Russia’s affairs.’
Zelensky also believes that Kremlin’s plans to place nuclear weapons in Belarus indicate the loss of any subjectivity by the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. ‘I think he no longer decides what weapons are on his territory,’ the president said.
