Against the backdrop of issues with the continuation of assistance to Ukraine from certain international partners, the head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, explained how events on the front would unfold if our people were left without Western support.
Zelensky issued a warning to Kiev’s partners due to the reduction of assistance to Ukraine.
According to the head of state, without the assistance of international partners, our country will have to resist Russian invaders on its own, as on the first day of a full-scale war.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that this would be very challenging, but there is no other way except victory.
The Ukrainian leader made this statement during a joint briefing with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, answering questions from the media.
“As you know, during the first days of the full-scale war on February 24, we were truly alone. It was difficult and very challenging. A tragic period for us and our people, and you saw how it was for us. We were almost occupied. But we didn’t run away, didn’t leave, and accepted this battle,” reminded Volodymyr Zelensky to international partners.
According to the head of state, Ukraine will be able to continue the fight against the Russian aggressor, even if left without assistance altogether.
However, then we will be losing a lot of our people.
“It is possible to do it as it was done. I mean that it is difficult, you lose many people. And if you don’t want to lose the lives of your people, children… You undoubtedly need a real, powerful defense shield. Starting from planes and ending with artillery. If the world, Europe unite around Ukraine, it is important for us. Certainly, you cannot win without help, but you cannot lose either because it is the only thing you have – your state”.
Zelensky does not consider the option of sacrificing Ukrainian lands for the sake of peace
During a press conference in the USA, the President of Ukraine categorically rejected the idea of sacrificing Ukrainian territories for the sake of peace, as he considers this proposal absolute madness.
“This is absolute madness. We often mention God, and this is definitely not Christian. Our people live there, families, children. And all of this is part of Ukrainian society. We are talking about living people who are mocked, raped, killed. And we know this very well. The issue is not only about land; the issue is about living people, their fates. The issue is about these families, their children,” explained Volodymyr Zelensky.
