The largest German defense conglomerate, Rheinmetall, has received an order to supply Ukraine with 155-millimeter artillery shells worth approximately €142 million. This was stated in the company’s announcement.
The statement noted that the order from the NATO partner country includes tens of thousands of 155-millimeter artillery shells.
The shells will be produced by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, a recently acquired Spanish subsidiary of the group. The announcement also mentioned that the ammunition will be delivered in 2025.
In the material, it is specified that the production and delivery of around 40,000 shells for Ukraine from the previous order are expected to take place in 2024.
It is emphasized that there is currently a high demand for artillery ammunition, driven not only by the needs of Ukraine but also by the necessity to replenish significantly depleted stockpiles of ammunition in Germany and other NATO and EU countries.
