Danilov called Stoltenberg’s statement “a bit peculiar” that the war has depleted NATO’s reserves

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, commented on the statement by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in a television marathon today. Stoltenberg’s statement was about the depletion of NATO allies’ reserves due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.

During today’s press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, NATO’s Secretary-General stated, “Russia’s war against Ukraine has exhausted the allies’ reserves. Increasing production is essential to meet Ukraine’s needs and ensure our own defense. Speed and volume are of significance because Russia is preparing to use winter as a weapon in the war”.

Danilov referred to this as a “somewhat peculiar statement.”

“We are fighting with the weapons provided to us by our partners. The Alliance was prepared for major conflicts and the processes that have unfolded in the world, which were foreseeable… Those who claim that the war could have been postponed, that it was impossible, are people who do not know history and do not understand how the modern world is structured,” stated the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

He expressed confidence that NATO has the capabilities to ramp up production, and modern weaponry exists among the allies that has not yet been supplied to Ukraine. Danilov considered the timing of the decision on its supply to be a matter of time.

“I am more than confident that if our partners continue to fulfill their obligations, which they confirm every time, there will be no issues with the supply. It’s just a matter of time,” added Danilov.
