President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the heads of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Foreign Intelligence Service, as well as with diplomats regarding the situation in Israel and the overall situation in the Middle East.
Following the meeting, in an evening video address, Zelensky stated that Russia is interested in escalating this war.
“Based on very clear information, Russia is interested in igniting a war in the Middle East to create a new source of pain and suffering, weaken global unity, sow divisions and contradictions, and thereby help Russia undermine freedom in Europe,” the President said.
He emphasized that “we see how Russian propagandists are becoming more aggressive.”
“We see how the Iranian friends of Moscow are openly supporting those who attacked Israel. All of this is a much greater threat than the world perceives right now. Past world wars started with local aggressions,” Zelensky emphasized.
