Ukraine will not give away its territory in exchange for any status. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a briefing in Vilnius.
Zelensky was asked whether he believes that the United States and Germany, who were the main opponents of extending a NATO invitation to Ukraine at the Vilnius summit, intend to continue using Alliance membership as a means of pressuring Kyiv to engage in negotiations with Russia.
“I am confident that there will be no treacherous position from Biden and Scholz,” the president responded.
He added that Ukraine has clearly conveyed its position regarding the possibility of negotiations with Russia.
“We will never exchange any status for any of our territories. Even if it’s just one village with one resident. We will not give away our territories and we will not trade for any frozen conflict. This will never happen. Our partners are well aware of my position,” said Zelensky.
