Lithuania is transferring two NASAMS launcher systems to Ukraine – country’s president

Lithuania will procure two NASAMS air defense launcher systems for Ukraine. The country’s president, Gitanas Nauseda, announced this on Twitter.

“Lithuania has acquired two NASAMS launcher systems, which will be transferred to Ukraine. Air defense is key to Ukraine’s fight against the aggressor,” he wrote.

According to him, the systems will arrive in Ukraine in the near future. The contract was signed yesterday between Lithuania, Norway, and the Norwegian manufacturer Kongsberg Gruppen.

The Lithuanian leader also expressed hope that the NATO summit in Vilnius in July will adopt more collective decisions regarding support for Ukraine.

During a press conference in The Hague, Nauseda stated that he plans to visit Ukraine. The visit is scheduled for today, June 28.

The publication LRT reported that the Lithuanian president “has repeatedly raised the issue of possible transfer of NASAMS systems to Ukraine.
