Although the Defense Forces currently control a “small part of Bahmut,” the significance of its defense does not diminish as the Ukrainian Armed Forces are close to tactically encircling the city. This was stated by Commander of the Ground Forces, Alexander Syrsky.
“Despite currently controlling a small part of Bahmut, the significance of its defense remains relevant. This provides us with the opportunity to enter the city in case of a change in circumstances, which is bound to happen,” stated Syrsky.
According to him, the situation is challenging but under control. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance on the flanks in the suburbs of Bahmut and are effectively nearing the tactical encirclement of the city.
“Thanks to this, we will be able to control all the high-rise buildings occupied by the enemy and gradually destroy them. This deprives the enemy of control over the approaches to the city and provides us with certain tactical advantages,” explained the Commander of the Ground Forces.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Defense reported that despite Russian claims, Ukraine still continues to control a small part of Bahmut.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a press conference on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
