The member countries of the Group of Seven (G7) will take specific steps at the summit in Japan this week to strengthen Russia’s isolation and diminish its ability to wage war against Ukraine. This was announced by the Coordinator of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, during a briefing.
He noted that “over the past 15 months, the G7 has demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine, rallying the world to support Ukraine and cutting off Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from key technologies and funding worldwide.”
Kirby emphasized that the level of solidarity among the G7 countries is now even stronger than in 2022.
“You will see specific actions regarding further isolation of Russia and weakening its ability to conduct a brutal war,” added a representative of the US presidential administration.
NOTE: The G7 Summit is scheduled to take place from May 19th to 21st in the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Issues related to the international community’s response to Russia’s war against Ukraine and holding Moscow accountable will be among the main topics of the meeting.
