On the night of May 16, Russia attacked Ukraine with 18 missiles, six of which were Kh-47 “Kinjal” missiles. The air defense system successfully intercepted and destroyed all the targets. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny.
According to him, at approximately 03:30 on May 16th, the enemy launched an attack on Ukraine from the north, south, and east directions with 18 missiles of air, sea, and ground-based systems. Six MiG-31K aircraft launched one Kh-47M2 “Kinjal” missile each.
Additionally, the Russian Federation launched nine Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and three Iskander-M missiles.
All 18 targets were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense systems.
Additionally, the enemy launched Shahed-136/131 drones and three Orlan-10 and Supercam reconnaissance vehicles. All of them were shot down.
Earlier, the military administration of Kyiv reported that the attack was exceptional in its intensity, with the maximum number of missiles launched within the shortest period of time.
