French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that his country is ready to train Ukrainian fighter pilots. Macron made this statement in an interview with the French television channel TF1.
The head of the French state announced that Ukrainian pilots will now undergo training in France.
“We have opened the doors for pilot training, along with several other European countries that are ready for it. I believe negotiations are underway with the Americans. Training can begin now,” Macron said.
He did not specify which aircraft exactly these trainings would take place on.
France is currently refusing to transfer the airplanes to Ukraine.
“We are now beginning with the training. In any case, there will be theoretical debates [regarding the dispatch of the airplanes]. We need to start the training today,” stated the President of France.
Speaking about military assistance to Ukraine, Macron emphasized that France’s strategy is to help Ukraine organize a counteroffensive at the necessary moment “so that it can bring everyone back to the negotiating table on its own terms and create a strong peace for itself.”
When asked for more specifics regarding the military plans, he declined and only mentioned that it specifically involves the supply of additional ammunition and the training of Ukrainian units.
