NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are prepared for an offensive; however, Russian occupation forces have managed to establish significant defensive lines.
He made these remarks in an interview with CNN, as reported by “European Truth.”
“We should never underestimate the Russians. The front line was static for a long time, and Russian forces were able to create significant defensive lines to repel the planned counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Stoltenberg said.
At the same time, according to him, Ukrainian forces received necessary equipment from the West, and military personnel underwent training.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, urged not to consider the expected counteroffensive of Ukrainian forces as the last resort.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken believes that Ukraine has the necessary resources to reclaim the territory captured by Russia during the anticipated counteroffensive.
The UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, stated that he expects success in Ukraine’s planned counteroffensive but cautions that it may not meet inflated expectations.
