Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday the imposition of additional sanctions against Russia and Belarus in connection with the aggression against Ukraine. As reported by the correspondent of the European Truth, Trudeau made this statement during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal.
“Today we are announcing additional sanctions against 11 Russian individuals and 34 legal entities, including security objects associated with the “Wagner Group”, said the head of the Canadian government.
“In addition to further pressure on Putin’s allies in Belarus, we are announcing additional sanctions against nine legal entities associated with the Belarusian financial sector,” he added.
In the sanctions list published on the website of the Canadian government, among others, is the company “Concord Management and Consulting,” which belongs to the founder of the private military company “Wagner,” Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Individual sanctions were imposed on the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and his wife, as well as the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov.
The National Bank of Belarus and Belarusian branches of sanctioned banks from Russia are present on the Belarusian sanctions list.
As it is known, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, arrived on a visit to Canada on Tuesday, April 11th. As part of this visit, Canada has already announced additional military assistance to Ukraine, which includes the transfer of thousands of assault rifles and millions of rounds of ammunition.
