The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, claimed to have control over more than 80% of Bakhmut. His words, like previous times, remain nonsense and an attempt to justify his defeats in the city over the last 9 months.

“We are fully focused on Bachmut, continuing to carry out combat missions. More than 80% of Bachmut is under our control (supposedly Russian troops), including the entire administrative center, plants, factories, and the city administration. What remains is a part of the multi-story residential quarters where fortifications have been made. There are tunnels under these multi-story buildings,” said the founder of the private military company Prigozhin.
Justification for defeats
In a comment to the publication, the spokesperson for the Eastern grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyy, refuted Prygozhin’s words and noted that he is trying to show some kind of victory in the city, which the Russians have been trying to capture for nine months.
“This statement by Prygozhin does not correspond to reality. I have just contacted the commander of one of the brigades defending the city. I can confidently say that the Ukrainian defense forces control a much larger percentage of the territory of Bakhmut. Prygozhin needs to demonstrate some victory in the city they have been trying to capture for nine months in a row, that’s why he is making such statements,” explained Cherevaty
Let’s remind that RBK-Ukraine reported that, according to CNN, Russian occupiers are moving very slowly in Bakhmut despite deploying a large number of soldiers. Progress in some areas can be measured in meters.
As Cherevatyi noted, Prigozhin travels to Bakhmut, where active combat is taking place, because it is dangerous for him to stay in St. Petersburg. Recently, a cafe was blown up in the city, resulting in the death of the Russian pseudo war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.
