Spokesperson for the US Department of State, Vedant Patel, stated that Washington will not allow Russia to destroy Ukraine. He announced this at a briefing.
According to him, when the former President of the Russian Federation talks about the “disappearance” of Ukraine, he is mistaken because the US continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
He emphasized that Russia is trying to erase the borders of Ukraine through aggression.
“The borders of one country should not be erased purely through the aggression of another. That is why we will continue to support our Ukrainian partners and provide them with the best possible positions at the negotiating table, if it happens,” the diplomat said.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov called on not to spread Medvedev’s statements in the media and online.
In the autumn, commenting on Medvedev’s statements, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UN Kislytsia “wondered” how Russia had not yet gathered the Security Council, because – according to the words of the above-mentioned Russian official – “it is fighting against Satan”.
