The delivery will begin before the summer. Acting Minister of Defense of Denmark, Troels Lund Poulsen, announced this during a briefing with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, in Odessa.
Poulsen stated that Denmark had made an agreement with Germany for the supply of Leopards to Ukraine approximately two months ago.
“We will start delivering Leopard tanks to Ukraine by summer. And I hope that looking six months ahead, we will be able to transfer about 100 Leopard 1 tanks. This would be a significant help to the Ukrainian army in the fight for freedom,” said the Danish Defense Minister.
He added that the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks could also be discussed.
“In Denmark, there are not so many Leopard 2 tanks, but we can discuss other ways of transferring them,” Poulsen said.
Also, the Acting Minister of Defense of Denmark noted that in May, Ukraine may receive CAESAR artillery systems, which Ukrainian military personnel are currently being trained on at Danish training grounds.
“In the near future, we will hear how ‘leopards’ growl with a Danish accent,” Resnikov summarized.
