Rheinmetall concern is building a hub in Romania for repairing Ukrainian military equipment

The German arms company Rheinmetall is building a service center in Romania for Western military equipment used in Ukraine.

Details: Rheinmetall Group is actively working on creating a service and logistical support center in Romania, a NATO partner country, according to the publication.

It is noted that construction work on the hub is already underway in the vicinity of the city of Satu Mare, which is located near the border with Ukraine.

The service center will start operating this month. It is noted that the hub will play a central role in the logistical support of the operational readiness of the western combat systems used in Ukraine.

According to the company, the center will service self-propelled howitzers, military trucks, Leopard 2 and Challenger battle tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and Fuchs armored personnel carriers.

“The key task for us is to provide the best support to NATO forces and Ukraine in this critical situation,” said Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall.

According to him, the maintenance and repair of the weapons supplied to Ukraine plays an important role in defending against Russian aggression.

In June 2022, the Rheinmetall group and KMW established a similar service center in the Lithuanian city of Jonava.

This followed reports in early March 2023 that the Rheinmetall group was in talks to build a tank factory in Ukraine.
